Mokhtar lives in the Bay Area and works as a visual artist and art teacher. Mokhtar create his mixed media works or paints his acrylic images and exhibits them at his studio Firehouse Art Collective regularly. In his acrylic paintings and mixed media works, time and place are as blurred as the border between contemporary life and mythology. Drawing lines are inseparable from the paints he put on canvas. There is nothing as rewarding as a creative process being observed and imposed in a final work.
His Daily Sketches, reflecting social, cultural and political environment has been posted uninterrupted at the social medias since November 9, 2017.
His caricatures and illustrations had appeared in the local as well as European publications.
In 2012, Mokhtar designed dozens of shadow puppets for “Jana and Baladoor” a play written and directed by legendary Bahram Beyzaie. Later Mokhtar worked on the production and costume designs of musical plays like “Fifth String” and “City of Tales” .
Mokhtar also writes fictions as well as articles concerning art and architecture. He has an MA in English Creative Writing, published several short stories and articles in different Iranian anthologies. His novel "Shamayel-e-Mana" was published in Sweden and Iran in 1997 and 2003. His second novel, “Shahrzad the silent” just published.
